MALAWI - WARM HEART OF AFRICA

Malawi, lying to the south of Tanzania and the east of Zambia, has the beautiful Lake Malawi as its focal point. Here you can find the largest number of fish species in the world.

Spectacular beaches, kayaking, diving, fishing and sailing complement game viewing in Liwonde National Park and horseback safaris on the remote Nyika Plateau. Superb accommodation, a wonderful climate and some of Africa's friendliest people make Malawi the warmest heart of Africa. It combines well with Zambia and South Africa.

	Lake Malawi The 29,600km2 body of water known as Lake Malawi in Malawi and Lake Nyasa in its other two countries (Tanzania and Mozambique) is possibly the most scenic lake in Africa. Its flat, fresh, 585km long and contained between tall Rift Valley mountains.
	Lilongwe
	National Parks Malawi is blessed with no less than nine national parks and wildlife reserves. In the north are the unique Nyika Plateau and the Vwasa Reserve. These complement each other, one a highland, the other a lowland marsh area. The central region has two vast game areas; Kasungu National Park in the west and Nkhotakota Reserve in the east, near the Lake. To the south, the best known national park is Liwonde, along the River Shire, but there are also three game areas further south in the Shire Lowlands: Lengwe National Park and the wildlife reserves of Majete and Mwabvi. Near the southern end of Lake Malawi is the world’s first freshwater national park at Cape Maclear.
