Babylonstoren is a 250-hectare working fruit farm an hour's drive from Cape Town and is a great base for a few days wine tasting. The twelve sophisticated cottages which comprise the boutique hotel adjoin a traditional Cape Dutch farmyard and eight acres of edible gardens featuring more than 300 varieties of edible plants.

The whitewashed cottages flank an atmospheric oak-lined avenue and marry Milanese sophistication with local design. Six of them have state-of-the-art kitchens, however you can also dine at Babel, the hotel's wonderful restaurant, or get meals delivered to your cottage.

Come here to immerse yourself in nature, admire the ingeniously designed gardens, relax around the reservoir-style swimming pool, enjoy wonderful home-grown food and enjoy massages in the spa. To quote Conde Nast Traveller: "It's an intimate oasis, a new-style retreat with old-school values and compelling charm."
