Stanley's Camp - Okavango - Botswana

Situated in a 260,000 acre private concession on the tip of Chief's Island, deep in the Okavango Delta outside the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, is Stanley's Camp.

Guest accommodation consists of eight safari tents. The superbly appointed tents exude classic Africa; handcrafted beds dressed with the finest linen, antique furniture individually selected, and oriental carpets that give a delightful glimpse of colonial Africa. The main building is raised on decking and offers extensive views over the surrounding floodplains. The structure has been built into the existing tree line, with its main support being a large sausage tree.

Stanley's Camp offers some of the best game viewing in the Okavango, including buffalo, elephant, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.One of the wonderful features is an educational experience with a herd of semi-habituated African elephants. One has the option of spending the day learning about the elephants and observing them up close in their natural environment (the Elephant Interaction is a separate charge and must be booked in before arrival).

Other activities available at camp include game drives in customised, open 4X4 vehicles, including the rare opportunity of night drives. Due to the fact that Stanley's Camp is in a private concession, guests also have the option of walking with an armed professional guide. Water safaris in mokoros (traditional dug-out canoes) are offered during the winter months when the water levels are high.

Children 9 years and over are accepted at Stanley's Camp (flexible on this in low season), but there are no family rooms and parents will have to split up and share with children.
