Jao Camp - Okavango - Botswana

Jao is located in a private concession in the western Okavango bordering The Moremi Game Reserve. The area offers a diversity of habitats, ranging from permanent waterways and lagoons on the one side, to thick Kalahari soil on the other. This diversity attracts a variety of wildlife and birds and ensures excellent year round game viewing. Jao is a multi-activity camp – depending on the seasons and floodwater levels, boating, mokoro trips, game drives (day and night) and walks are offered.

The entire camp is in a canopy of ancient indigenous trees, raised above the lush palms and ground vegetation on stilted wooden decks and walkways. Sixteen guests can be accommodated in luxurious chalets with canvas walls and thatched roofs. A distinctly African décor is spiced up with a little Arabic flair and emphasised by the sumptuous soft furnishings. Each room has a private outdoor "sala" or covered deck with plush cushions and superb views, that has been specially designed with afternoon siestas in mind. All the rooms havean en suite shower, w/c and basins as well as an outdoor shower.

The main area, under cool thatch, houses the lounge, dining table and bar. A boma for out- door meals and a pool are located nearby.
