property - Little Kulala Lodge [© 2011 Pulse Africa - pulseafrica.com]

Situated on over 21,0000 ha of private property and bordering the Namib Naukluft Park, Little Kulala lies in the heart of the Namib on the western side of the Kulala Wilderness Reserve. The lodge offers magnificent views of the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei as well as magnificent mountainous scenery and vast open plains.

Eight thatched and canvas chalets or "Kulalas" (Kulala in "Swahili" means "to sleep") all with en suite bathrooms are set on wooden platforms that provide maximum airflow to keep things cool. Each "Kulala" also offers guests an option of sleeping out on the specially designed roofs in very comfortable bedrolls. Apart from being aromantic thing to do, it also offers some spectacular opportunities for star gazing as you lie in bed. The main building has a lounge, bar area, dining area and plunge pool, all with a view of the dunes.

Early morning guided game drives to the spectacular dunes of Sossusvlei are on offer as are game drives and walks on the private reserve. The area has incredible views, desert game and smaller desert fauna and flora. One option while staying here is an early morning balloon ride. The sixty-minute flight offers a truly unique experience as one soars silently above the magnificent sand dunes and desert.
