Tongabezi - Livingstone & Vic Falls - Zambia
Tongabezi is rated among the top ten honeymoon destinations in the world and when you see the lodge, nestled in a park-like atmosphere of green lawns and indigenous trees; it is easy to see why!
Accommodation at Tongabezi is in uniquely designed chalets and houses situated on the river including a garden cottage. Four of the five houses have one side open to the bush and the river, and a private balcony is the perfect place to relax with sundowners. There are also five River Cottages overlooking the banks of the Zambezi. Each of which have a large double bed or two singles, plus a mosquito net and en-suite bath and shower, along with indoor and outdoor areas where guests can dine under the stars or simply sit and enjoy the ever-changing river views. The Garden Cottage is ideal for a family or couple seeking luxury and privacy close to Victoria Falls. The house is hidden behind a private walled garden and set back from the river. It is the only one room without views of the Zambezi. Every room at Tongabezi has a valet assigned to them who will look after you throughout your stay. Old fashioned wind up phones connect guests to reception, and are a novel way to order a gin & tonic at the end of the day! The colours of the rooms are muted earth tones, and bushman paintings on the stone walls create a feeling of time and history.
The lodge has a wonderful pool, a lounge scattered with interesting books, and an open fireplace where tales of Africa are told and embellished over pre-dinner drinks.
A stay at Tongabezi includes all drinks (apart from liqueurs and imported alcohol), a visit to the Falls on the Zambian side, trips to Livingstone and canoeing.
