Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, close to some of the earliest dwellings of man in Olduvai Gorge, has taken their cave paintings as inspiration. It is built of stone and boulders and is literally hidden in the vegetation of the crater's rim. The interiors are filled with exquisite wooden furniture and African artefacts. All bedrooms have private terraces with uninterrupted views across the grasslands, forests, lakes and rivers that make up the crater floor. Activities include game drives through the crater, bush walks, picnic lunches, excursions to the nearby Olduvai Gorge, and a variety of cultural events.
