Ruckomechi is a small and very exclusive camp situated on a private concession on the edge of the National Park. The camp is sheltered by a huge stand of acacia and mahogany and looks out across the river to a massive escarpment, which rises over six hundred metres into the African sky. The camp has ten thatched chalets, each with en suite facilities. The open lounge, bar and dining area stand on the very edge of the river, also under cool thatch.
Herds of elephants and antelope, with the great predators in tow, still move unhindered through the ancient forests of the Mana flood plain. Home to an incredible variety of animal and bird life, this unspoilt, unfenced part of Africa in renowned for its excellent game viewing.
By catering for a maximum of twenty guests, personalised attention is a key feature.In addition to its cuisine, the camp is staffed by trained guides whose enthusiasm and skills have combined to give it the well deserved reputation as a camp where the needs of its guests are paramount.
Apart from game drives and walks, a variety of other activities are available, including fishing and canoeing trips.
