Fugitive's Drift Lodge is situated deep in the heart of KwaZulu Natal, overlooking the sites of two of the most famous battles in the history of the Zulu Wars. Recognised as a Natural Heritage Site, Fugitive's Drift Private Reserve offers guests a unique experience combining wildlife with our rich past. Owned and run by the Rattray family, the accommodation is in spacious luxury en suite cottages, each with spectacular views of the Buffalo River Gorge.

Walks and drives are offered in the reserve and guests will see several species of mammal including: giraffe, zebra and kudu. The bird life is prolific, and over two hundred and seventy five species have been identified in the gorge below the lodge. Fishing is also a great pastime and the unspoilt surroundings are the perfect place for one to unwind. As well as having a beautiful pool, discreetly placed, Fugitives Drift also offers horse riding. This is a wonderful way to explore the battlefields and surrounding countryside, with all standards of riders being catered for.The guides are well versed in the history of the two battles and share fascinating tales of battle scenes and heroism.
