Shompole - Rift Valley & Lake Victoria - Kenya
Situated on the side of the Nguruman escarpment, overlooking the Great Rift Valley, Shompole is constructed using naturally-occurring materials and using water as a prime feature. Each tented room provides a spacious, shady oasis in this green desert environment. With privacy, comfort and relaxation in mind, each of the six rooms has a pool and informal sitting area, a bathroom with a view and a specially designed tent, which includes vast windows and a high-canopied roof. The camp is a joint venture between a safari company and the members of the Masai community of Shompole Ranch. The community benefit from conservation fees and profit from their shares in the camp. The Conservancy area is home to many species of animals and birdlife and includes one of the most ecologically diverse areas in Africa.
