Unguja Resort is an owner run, small beach hotel in Kizimkazi on the southern tip of Zanzibar, offering a true Zanzibar experience in a relaxed atmosphere. From your room, you can watch the local fishermen sailing the Indian Ocean or sip a cocktail as the sun goes down.
All eleven spacious private bungalows are beautifully decorated in Zanzibar style, with huge makuti roofs, allowing the sea breezes to pass through. Rooms have a separate shower and loo a well as a lounge, veranda and loft room upstairs. Within the beautiful gardens with old mango and baobab trees, many indigenous animals, including the rare red colobus monkey, find their home.
In the middle of the tropical gardens, a large swimming pool is situated, where one can relax whilst the more energetic can try their hand at scuba diving. Alternatively, take a local dhow or ngalawa for a sail, where between September and December, you may catch a glimpse of a humpback whale.
Kizimkazi is also well known for the many dolphins which inhabit the area.
