Klein Oliphants Hoek was originally built as a mission in 1888 and has since been converted into a warm and welcoming guest house. The labyrinthine stairways add to the old house feel, as they lead you from the living room to the light and airy rooms. The communal living room is old style chic, with some colonial splendour thrown in for good measure. It is large, but cosy and guests are encouraged to make themselves at home. There are a variety of books to peruse, as you settle into one of the comfortable leather sofas.
Klein Oliphants Hoek is located within minutes of Franschhoek, the gourmet capital of South Africa. There is no shortage of restaurants serving delicious food, and a short drive away are many wine farms that offer wine tasting.
After a day of sight-seeing, return to Klein Oliphants Hoek and relax on the veranda. Enjoy the awesome view of the excellently landscaped gardens, beneath the majestic vista of the Franschhoek Mountains.
