Situated in Maroantsetra, one of Madagascar's most authentic towns, is the beautiful Relais du Masoala. Situated in 7 hectares of gardens and coconut groves, this well managed establishment also boasts views over the Bay of Antongil. Fifteen thatched bungalows provide spacious accommodation with ensuite facilities and private verandas overlooking the bay. The swimming pool offers welcome relief at the end of a hot day.The food is excellent. The hotel runs tours to Nosy Mangabe, birdwatching in the Masoala Peninsula, pirogue excursions up river, whale-watching in September, visits to the small forest near the hotel where the aye-aye lemur can be seen and cultural experiences to the local village.

Nosy Mangabe, with its gorgeous sandy coves, enormous trees and strangler figs is a real treat.Apart from its natural beauty it is also bursting with wildlife. It is particularly well known for its abundance of aye-aye lemurs. The only overnight accommodation on the island is provided in campsites. Relais du Masoala are able to arrange overnight camping trips for the adventurous traveller, while the majority of guests prefer to return to the luxury of the hotel.
