The Majlis Hotel is a privately-owned twenty five room boutique hotel occupying a unique location on the exclusive Manda Island facing the world-renowned Lamu Island on Kenya's north coast.

Lamu is considered as one of the top holiday destinations in the world as well as being recognized by UNESCO as having the oldest and best preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa, Lamu Old Town. Lamu Town dates back to the 12th century and is known for its Swahili architecture, narrow street, busy markets, women dressed in bui-buis, white-sailed dhows gliding across the blue water, one car and over three thousand donkeys.

With superb seafront views over the Ras Kitau bay and Shela village, guests at The Majlis enjoy an idyllic setting where they can relax and make the most of the Lamu archipelago's unaffected charm and extensive recreational activities. Lamu Island has everything to attract seasoned and first-time visitors, whether you are looking for a romantic sojourn or quiet period of relaxation or something in between.

Designed and built to reflect Lamuís heritage tradition, a subtle fusion of African, Indian, Asian, Arab and Portuguese influences, The Majlis is a beach hotel combining western comforts and local tradition. State-of-the-art facilities include two bars, a gourmet restaurant, two swimming pools and an activity centre. Other activities include boat excursions to the other islands in the Lamu Archipelago, daily boat and mainland safaris to the Tana River and Lake Kenyatta, fishing, water sports, snorkelling, fitness and cardio activities and cultural excursions.
