Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge - South Africa - North West Province
Ankarana consists of an "island" of tsingy, or limestone karst pinnacles, and a forest which is penetrated by numerous caves and canyons. Some of the largest caves have collapsed, forming isolated pockets of river-fed forest with their own perfectly protected flora and fauna. These pockets are home to a large number of animals.

Accommodation is provided in the National Parks camp sites. The Pulse Africa guide will erect your tent with a comfortable bed and bedding. The guide will also erect shower facilities for your private use. Unfortunately, toilet facilities are communal. Days are spent exploring the reserve on foot, with the guide. A visit to the "tsingy" is a must and board walks have been constructed to allow safe and easy passage and at the same time protecting the fragile rock while admiring the succulents. There are a number of caves, one with a fairyland of stalagmites and stalactites, one with bats and supposedly one with crocodiles. All worth a visit and your guide will supply you with a head torch. The cook prepares tasty meals, which are enjoyed around the campsite picnic table. Unlike anywhere else in the world, there is a lot of mosquito activity during the day and none at night.
