Thanda Game Lodge - Thanda Game Reserve - KwaZulu Natal - Interior - South Africa
Situated in northern Zululand, Thanda Private Game Reserve is a celebration of the Zulu people and their rich culture. Not only will guests have the opportunity to learn more about their history and traditions, the people from the adjacent tribal land will benefit in many ways from the creation of Thanda Private Game Reserve. Born from a dream to create harmony between man and nature, Thanda is an exclusive hideaway and gives new meaning to ultimate luxury. Thanda is set on 5 300 hectares of land and has a main lodge, tented camp and wellness centre in a Big Five setting.
The main lodge encompasses nine bush villas which offer guests the epitome of self-contained privacy and sheer luxury. Circular in structure and reminiscent of a traditional homestead against a hill, each of the villas boasts a breathtaking view of the surrounding game reserve. Each villa has its own spacious lounge area and master bedroom with inter-leading fireplace. A thatched outdoor game-viewing deck (sala) and infinity pool offer refreshing solace from the summer heat. Each of the villas has a full en-suite bathroom complete with an enormous oval shaped bath and indoor and outdoor showers. The villas are all equipped with private bomas for an intimate and romantic dining experience.
Should the urge arise to venture beyond your private retreat, the lodge's public areas include a library, business centre, finely-stocked wine cellar and cigar bar, as well as a choice between romantic dining venues in the heart of the African bush.
Activities at the lodge include game drives, bush walks and star gazing.
Vula Zulu, a traditional homestead situated next to Thanda has been created as a platform for African theatre. Between fifty and a hundred warriors trained by a Zulu prince and a choreographer perform age-old dancing rites, as was done prior to and after battle. Thereafter, a traditional meal is served. Vula Zulu contributes to the sustainment of Zulu culture, through job creation and maintaining an ongoing interest in Zulu heritage.
