Cybele Forest Lodge - Mpumalanga - South Africa

Cybele Forest Lodge is an exclusive retreat deep in the heart of three hundred acres of African paradise, surrounded by timber plantations, mountains and meadows. The lodge is an old hunting lodge with a wide veranda set in beautiful gardens, perfect for relaxing with a sundowner. In striking contrast to the lush greenery and vivid colours in the garden, the interior of the lodge is warm, soft and mellow. Furnished throughout with antiques, art and exquisite fabrics, the main house is a wonderful place to relax and read a book, browse through magazines or enjoy a drink.

The cuisine at Cybele is of a consistently high standard with international chefs preparing home baked breads, imaginative starters, elegant main dishes and creative desserts. Dinner is served in the candlelit dining room with silver service.

The lodge offers horse riding in magnificent surrounds, wonderful walks, superb bird watching and excellent trout fishing (fishing tackle is available at the lodge). A short drive from the lodge guests can visit the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window and the quaint little town of Pilgrim's Rest.

Accommodation ranges from cottages to suites, each individually decorated. Most have sitting rooms, some have private walled patios or gardens and yet another has a private sauna. All the suites have private pools and the cottages and suites have log fire places. A wonderfully romantic spot!
