Tortilis Camp - Kenya - Amboseli - Chyulu Hills
Winner of the British Airways Regional Eco-tourism Award, Tortilis has earned an international reputation for its commitment to the environment. With its rustic simplicity, unobtrusive design and attention to comfort the camp is understatedly. The area is fantastic for watching large herds of elephants and plains game either from the camp or during game drives. The Amboseli wetlands also provide a wonderful experience for avid bird watchers whilst bush breakfasts and hilltop sundowners enhance the feeling of wilderness luxury. Visits to Masai manyattas provide the opportunity to meet the Masai women and watch the Morans dance. The seventeen spacious tents with en suite bathrooms are on wooden decks and are shaded with thatched roofs. All have unrivalled views of Mount Kilimanjaro. This is a great place to start a safari, relax and acclimatise. The food is part of the charm, North Italian traditional recipes from the owner's family cookbook, complemented by delicious salads and herbs grown on site.
