Lewa Downs - Kenya - Mt Kenya - Laikipia - Mathews Range
Wilderness Trails, Lewa Downs is situated on the northern slopes of Mount Kenya. Will and Emma Craig are your hosts in the home that has belonged to their family since 1924 when Will's grandparents came from England to raise cattle. One of Kenya's major private conservation successes, the wildlife viewing at Lewa Downs is as good as anywhere in Africa; with endangered species such as black and white rhino, Grevy's zebra and sitatunga in addition to the Big Five. The Craig's have an ongoing commitment to community development with a furniture workshop and rug-weaving project that guests are welcome to visit. Set amidst stunning countryside the accommodation consists of eight comfortable rooms each with en suite bathrooms in three cottages of two bedrooms each, and two cottages of one bedroom each. Wilderness Trails is closed in April, May and November.
