Jardin Vanille - Nosy Komba - Madagascar - Nosy Be - Islands

Jardin Vanille is a small, owner-run lodge set into the hillside above the beach of Anjiabe, overlooking the turquoise sea to Ankify and the mainland beyond. The eight bungalows, all with en suite facilities, are linked by wooden walkways and set amid lush tropical vegetation – now frequented by semi-habituated Black lemurs. The bedrooms and verandas are built from local, renewable materials in order to leave a light footprint on the island. They are not elaborate; but they are equipped with mosquito nets and locally-made furniture, and are scrupulously clean. There is also an enormous suite perched on the boulders just above the fine sand beach. It is a spectacular setting and brilliant for a honeymoon.

There is a beach of fine sand below the hotel, two coves along, there is another with a reef, so you can go snorkelling straight from the beach. With luck, you will have marine turtles for company. The hotel can arrange excursions to the nearby marine island reserve of Nosy Tanikely, scuba diving and pirogue trips. It is noted for its deep-sea fishing, and you can also go fishing in a pirogue with some of the village fishermen. The walk through the forest, up the mountain, should not be missed.
