Arotel Hotel - Antisirabe - Madagascar - The Highlands
A Norwegian missionary attracted by the cool climate and the healing properties of the thermal springs founded Antsirabe in 1872. Today, it is an elegant city, with top class hotels and interesting excursions. A broad avenue links the handsome station with the amazing Hotel des Thermes; while at the station itself is a monolith depicting Madagascar's 18 tribes. Antsirabe is the agricultural and industrial centre of Madagascar, best know as the centre for beer production. This is also the pousse-pousse (rikshaw) capital of Madagascar. There are hundreds of them, so hop on and take a ride. The Arotel Hotel is a well situated on Grande Avenue just west of the train station. It is a comfortable hotel offering accommodation in luxurious rooms, which boast full sized bathtubs. There is a lovely secluded garden at the back with a swimming pool and tennis court.
