Serra Cafema Camp - Namibia - The Skeleton Coast
Serra Cafema Camp is located in the extreme northwest of Namibia and has to be the most remote camp in Southern Africa. The camp's name comes from the mountains to the north that dominates the skyline. Guests will share this region with the wonderful Himba people who are some of the last true nomadic people in Africa. Surrounded by rugged mountains and sand dunes the Kunene River is the only permanent source of water in the whole region and the river creates a lush oasis along its banks. This small, rustic and peaceful camp lies under big, shady Albida trees, offering guests comfortable, fully furnished tents with en suite bathroom facilities. The tents are raised off the ground and each has its own private deck. Serra Cafema, located just inland from the Atlantic Ocean and the Skeleton Coast, has its own dining room, bar and small swimming pool. The cool winds that blow from the Atlantic help to keep the camp cool even in summer. Walking trails in the remote mountain and river valleys will always be a highlight for those who enjoy foot safaris. Flying safaris, boating, fishing, day and night-drives and swimming are just some of the other delights of the area for guests to sample.
