236 Hurumzi Hotel - Stone Town - Tanzania - Zanzibar and Pemba Islands
Hurumzi lies in the bustling heart of Stone Town. Lovingly restored, this historic building has some of the most exotic and opulent rooms in Zanzibar. The antique furnishings, stained glass windows, ceiling fans in huge languidly draped mosquito nets, original stucco decor, and oversized stone baths, give this hotel an old world feel. Modern day gadgetry is purposely left out of the rooms to create a perfect get away and sense of more simplistic times. At the top of the hotel is the famous Tower Top Restaurant. The view of the rooftops of Zanzibar and the ocean beyond are a magical backdrop where guests enjoy a five course Swahili inspired meal. After kicking off their shoes and sitting Arabian style on a multitude of cushions at small tables, guests often exchange their experiences and get to know each other. Alternatively, you can visit the Kidude Cafe Restaurant on the ground floor for lunch, dinner, pastries, drinks, or just to relax. The hotel is closed in May.
