Situated on the north east coast of Zanzibar, Matemwe is as eco friendly as possible. All fourteen en-suite bungalows overlook the Indian Ocean and are surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens. All are built of local stone with Makuti roofing and each has a veranda with a huge hammock. Hot water and lighting are solar powered and all furnishings are of local materials. The restaurant serves mainly freshly caught seafood whilst under nearby palm trees, is a superb open-air bar. Matemwe also has its own dive school and semi private beach.
