Kleinfontein - Wellington - South Africa - Cape Winelands
Kleinfontein is unique amongst other guest houses in the Cape in that it offers guests a true homestay experience. It is also a working farm, cultivating vines, guavas and olives and is situated in the beautiful serene and peaceful Bovlei valley in the heart of the Cape winelands. The thatched farmhouse was built around 1830 by the descendents of the French Huguenots and was extended at the turn of the century and more recently lovingly restored by its present owners, Tim and Caroline Holdcroft. Just two luxurious suites privately situated and with separate entrances ensure complete exclusivity and provide magnificent panoramic views to natural meadows and vineyards extending to the slopes of the majestic Hawekwa Mountains. Visitors are actually houseguests and are drawn into the relaxed life at Kleinfontein, where all meals are taken together, table conversation continues till late and guests connect with the people and country they have come to see. Breakfast and dinner are served on the veranda and comprise haute cuisine meals including organic vegetables, milk, cream and eggs all fresh from the farm. The farm has a pool, offers horseriding (experienced riders), fabulous walks (with picnics) and personalised wine tours (a neighbouring wine farm demonstrates the actual processes). In addition, other activities nearby include fishing, golf, cultural tours, scenic drives and more.
