Kwandwe, meaning "place of the Blue Crane" in Xhosa, is situated on 22,000 hectares of exclusive, malaria free wilderness that boasts thirty kilometres of privately owned river frontage. Great Fish River Lodge consists of nine luxurious air-conditioned suites each with its own romantic sala, private plunge pool, personal bar, butler service, outside shower and en-suite bathroom.
  
This is the only property of its kind in South Africa to be awarded Relais and Chateaux status for 2003. Kwandwe offers fantastic sightings of the Big Five, either on open game viewing vehicles or nature walks.
