Spurwing Island is situated on Lake Kariba and borders the edge of the Matusadona National Park. The lodge offers a range of safaris that include; scenic boat trips up the Sanyati Gorge, game viewing on foot, by boat and/or landrover. Elephant, lion and huge herds of buffalo are sighted regularly in the area while impala, waterbuck and zebra are among the more common inhabitants of the bush. Fishing is a popular sport on Kariba and Spurwing offers an experienced coxswain for those wishing to try their hand. Lake Kariba also has a reputation for being one of Africa's better bird watching areas with over two hundred species being present.
