TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK [Tanzania]

Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania's smaller parks, is situated not far from the southern tip of Lake Manyara. The park is dissected by the Tarangire River and is probably best known for its large population of baobab and beautiful palm trees.

The park is at its best in the dry season from June to October when the game, especially large herds of elephant, come from the neighbouring areas for water. Tarangire is home to the vast Larmakau Swamp where you will find, amongst other things, a huge variety of birdlife. Leopards are also plentiful in the park and all the major game is to be found here.
